It's snowing!!!!

P

I'm writing this at the unearthly hour of 5 am. Oh my good god..eevrything is totally covered in snow...transport for london says buses have been withdrawn :-s i am wondering, i have a visa appointment today at the home office etc, whether they'll consider altering the date...

oh this is just so exciting (but so bad as well)....

And i have a major major sore throat/cold/cough/fever coming...

but cant help feeling soooo excited....:p

R

I'm excited too!! I can't remember ever seeing snow like this in London before, everything's so quiet outside and it all looks lovely, even my sickly twiggy plants. I think the last time they stopped all buses was during the big storm years back, so the roads must be quite dangerous for TFL to withdraw them. I believe some bendy buses slithered off the roads or something. The only bad thing is I've run out of coffee...

H

That's all very well for you London types, but for us northerners trying to get to London for a conference tomorrow...:-s

S

Deep snow here too! My three- yr-old id itching to get out and play in it - it's still snowing pretty heavily though. We must drive into town this afternoon too :p

Heifer, it might be worth checking that the conference will still be on - my whole uni is officially closed today, pending further travel updates. We don't know what's happening tomorrow yet.

E

Ohhhh! I am a little (OK a lot) jealous!!! I haven't seen any snow for a looooong time. By the way, I live in north Greece......

H

Crikey, it must be bad! Trains at the moment are being cancelled out of Kings X so it might be the case that I can't get down there anyway. And I really wanted 2 days away from the thesis...Boo!

S

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) only a little snow up north - no escape from uni today!

P

I cant take the tube, cos I cant get to the tube, i cant tak the trains cos the website says severe disruption...there is NO way i can get to my visa thing today, and these people arent answering calls...

what do I DOOOOO? is it my fault that i wpnt show up at Croydon? i have NO idea what to do...(will cry any time now...seriously)

R

It's brilliant having no background noise from traffic and planes though - sooo peaceful! Perfect thesis-writing weather heheh! I'm going out in it.:-)

R

Bug, if you can't get there then it's likely that the office workers can't get to work either. Email them maybe? They'll understand, this is very unusual weather for London. Please don't cry though!

P

they dont have emails....i tried walking to london bridge, and returned...

thanks Ruby!

PhD bug I have family in Croydon. They are all off work and sledging instead. I think probably people in Lunar House won't be able to get there either, which is prob why they aren't answering the phone. It is pretty exceptional circumstances, so I wouldn't stress too much about you appt, but that is obviously very easy for me to say. But that's my local knowledge. Croydon is higher than central London too, so will be snowier.

S

We've got snow here too - all the schools are closed and we're forecast heavy snow later- should be fun :-( I wouldn't worry bug, I think London is pretty much shut lol. They'll understand - when London cancels buses and trains they can't expect you to get in. It sounds as though you need to tuck yourself up in the warm and get yourself better xxx

C

My friends in London are all off work. Here in Manchester there is a few cm of snow: but there is a blizzard going strong right now!!!!! More snow!

Feels like my Scandinavian adopted homeland right now!:p
