What should i do????

P

Hey to all,

I am doing my PhD in food technology. Actually i was from pharmacy back ground. I finished my Bachelors and Masters from Pharmacy. My PhD is going fine and i am in the first year of my PhD. I need to know what i should do to get full knowledge of food technology? Whether should i concentrate only on my project or should i learn all the basics about food technology? I was wondering after i finish my PhD whether should i get a job in pharmacy industry or food industry? Should i left my pharmacy back ground and concentrate on my food technology? Is there any one doing their PhD in other field rather than their specialization in their Masters?

Any suggestions and advices are welcome....

Thank you very much for all your suggestions in my last thread.

I am doing phd in a totally different field from my Masters.
To get full knowledge on food tech, spend more time on it. Allocate time for it.

Whether to get a job in pharmacy or food industry--if I were you, I wouldnt worry about this. Do this: LIVE IN THE PRESENT. Concentrate on your phd now, and learning about food tech, since you are already doing a phd in food tech, why worry about pharmacy now.

The first supervisor I ever had, told me this: "Do your masters because you want to do your masters". He taught me this important lesson which I value until today. Money and career are also good motivators. But first be motivated by what you want to do and what you have passion for, and the money and career will somehow come along.

If money is your sole motivator (for this phd), your happiness may not last.

If you regret changing fields, that is another different thing. It is entirely up to you.

Your 1st year phd is fine, why worry. If you really want to go back to pharmacy, decide whether you want to continue food tech or you can even go back to pharmacy AFTER this phd. Make up your mind.
