I want to write a plan out for the next 18 months of my PhD but have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this i.e. format, useful websites or anything really. Dont suggest I ask my supervisor because if he had a long term plan I wouldn't have to be doing this. Cheers.

Your question is quite difficult! I guess best is to discuss it with as many people as possible (friends, students, postdocs, old supervisors from undergraduate studies). You must have a project somehow. Try to start with something in the first place. You will develop your own ideas meanwhile. What is your PhD about? perhaps I do know people from a similar area.
