I've got a confession to make. I'm addicted to One Born Every Minute. Though I'm big and gruff man in a fun size Snickers kind of way, just looking at tiny little babies being born, under the guidance of a dedicated maternity team, just brings a big smile to my face. Mmm, must avoid turning weird, or I'll end up growing ovaries.
So what's everyone else's current TV addiction? Neighbours? Home and Away? One Foot in the Grave? (if you watch Dave)? Newsnight? Red Lace Diaries? Songs of Praise?
Arrgh, b****r it, let's go nuclear with this. About time we held a new poll on this forum...

I have a thesis:

"What genre of programmes do PhD students watch (even though they should be studying)?"

I intend to answer it with the categorical question (of the poll) and the open question of, what do you watch? Data collection for the poll has a time scale of exactly 2 years. That's right folks: my prospective study is the largest of its kind in the UK, probably the world.

I love one born every minuet too, though I am a lady!! I also like four weddings, like come dine with me but for weddings!!

K

Snog marry avoid :$ Beat that!

T

It's all about the comedy here. Scrubs, Ugly Betty, Big Bang Theory...... ahhh.

M

I'm obsessed with box sets: arrested development, flight of the conchords, curb your enthusiasm, scrubs, LOST, The Wire, Dexter, 30Rock,

oh dear I should get a life....

Hi Wally, I wish there were more options - what about 'tittle tattle'? And that old perennial 'reality dross'? What about 'drama', 'films', 'politics programmes', 'soap operas', 'chat shows', 'game shows'?The existing choices are really only two: 'factual', 'news' and 'documentary' are often interchangable - it's serious factual stuff or comedy, really. So, I'm afraid I couldn't vote in your poll.

My all time top ever TV addiction is 'America's (and as a close second, Britain's) Next Top Model' : 'So you wanna be on taaaaaap, taaaaaaap, taaaaaap', 'Ya soooooo fierce, wooooowwrk it baby', 'I have two girls in front of me and one of them will...'. I have a secret, scary crush on the buff as buff can be, and groomed as groomed can be, J. Emanuelle, and j'adore Janice Dickinson. Although I don't get Living any more so, sadly, I've had to pet it go.

I also love 'Project Catwalk', 'Come Dine With Me', the amazing Nigel Slater's 'Simple Suppers' (another unsuitable crush on a gay man), 'Loose Women' (but I'm moving away from that now - I love Carol, but don't like Colleen at all), I've just got really into Casualty and I loved Dr. Who with David Tennat. I like Cracker, but not when I'm feeling fragile. I think that's it. Oh, and how coud I forget, what week would be complete without 'Survivors'?, makes Tuesday nights a thrill.

I was being productive today, doing all those fiddly things life demands of us - like getting my haircut and ringing the council, so must press on.

Damn, why can't I just keep my mouth shut it and stop being so cheeky and insulting to people. Must...stop...must...resist... Sorry, no can do!
Casualty, Eska? Heavens above! It's not like real life at all and so predictable. There's always an accident involving a dodgy pair of ladders or car; all the doctors are sleeping with one another and the nurses; patients come in with a ruptured spleen or dissected aorta - but that's fine because they're either dead or completely better after 45 minutes and all their social and family problems have been sorted out; and the sets are held together with sticky tape. And Holby City? That's just Casualty with Now That's What I Call Music 52 playing in the background.

R

Can't go wrong with Simpsons, 24, CSI, Skins... meanwhile the wife loves Gok Won, How To Look Good Naked...

Sigh!

Yeah Wall, I totally agreewith you about Casualty, but I think that's why I like it, predictability and repetition are recurring elements of my TV addictions. I tend not to get addicted to TV that involves any risk of brain activity on my part.

double posting. Why's that happening?

O

Oh dear-confession time:$

I'm also watching One Born Every Minute-daughter No 1 is a midwife-how on earth does she put up with it?

For totally pointless TV, I love 24-Jack Bauer rules. Daughter No 3 and I are totally hooked on Roadwars,I have an inappropriate crush on Simon and daughter just loves Yorkie and Dixie. How sad are we:-(

N

I confess to loving rubbish tv - at the moment I like the 'documentaries' about Jordan/Katie Price even though I'm not much of a fan any more; also Come dine with me, Relocation Relocation, anything lifestyle-y really!

Oh Wally - ever the creator of entertaining threads!!!

For me the trashier the programme the better - the Hills, Supernanny, Wife Swap, Supersize vs. Superskinny ...... need I go on? :$

Like Eska though, I couldn't really answer the poll - I suppose documentaries is the closest classification but I feel that tarnishes the good name of documentaries just a bit :p

L

House!! And things like Mock the Week, Harry Hill...I tend to buy my nature documentaries on DVD rather than watch them on TV at the time (why?! No idea, although I do get them on Bluray so they're all pretty like).

And I'm a news addict but usually just in the morning before work, all the bad news gets me grumpy for the rest of the day and I don't want to hear any more when I get home.

There seems to be a bit of a theme of bitterness and/or satire with my TV watching :-)

I like to watch supernanny so I can be patronising and seem like a know it all when talking to other people who actually have kids. I'm into anything with vampires e.g. true blood, the vampire diaries (cringe!) and being human. I also like US stuff like the mentalist, house, lie to me. I am avid come dine with me fan and love any good comedy e.g. mock the week, 8 out of 10 cats.
