Formatting woes

H

Hi! I am despairing in front of my PC. I'd like to do the following: Switch between the MS Word 2007 formatting styles Portrait and Landscape for my text. Portrait (i.e. the default format that you get when you open a Word doc) for the text, and landscape for a one-page table, to be continued by the remainder text in Portrait format. The table does not fit into the portrait format and forms part of the main text unfortunately. Do you have any idea how I can achieve that? Any comments would be utmost welcome!! Cheers, Heidy :-(

If you click on "page layout" in your toolbar, and then you click on the tiny arrow on the bottom right corner of the "page layout" task pane, a dialog box should appear. It should show the page orientation. click on whatever of the two options you need, then click on "apply", and here you have two options: "whole document" or "this point forward". Select the last. You can return to the portrait orientation after you have inserted your table, by using the same system.

don't mind me :$

I would use a new page section break. Insert one just before your landscape page and just after. Whatever you then do to your landscape page should only effect that page.

that's what I had but then deleted after seeing Corinne's reply. I have Word 2003 not 2007 so didn't know you could do that. But yes page breaks are very important if very annoying!

I alwasy did it the way Corinne has suggested- I never got the hang of page breaks but I managed fine without them! Although my colleagues tell me that they make life easier if you learn how to use them- I'm just not very technologically minded! Best, KB

Thank you so much - it worked! If it weren't for the darn word limit, I would mention each one of you in my acknowledgement section!! :] Heidy
