Hi All!

I have been secretly stalking this forum for a while now and have gained some great tips, tricks and advice already,

I graduated in July with a first class honours computer science degree and have happily been awarded a SICSA Prize Studentship,

I start my PhD in October (3rd) and I'm very much looking forward to it, It is a machine learning based PhD applied to the Oil and Gas industry,

Just thought I would introduce myself before posting, asking for help etc...

Wish me luck!

David.

Hi David, good luck with starting your PhD - I've been using this forum on and off since the 3rd year of my undergraduate degree and it has been so helpful, I start the 2nd year of my PhD in January.

It stems from My Military days, My Surname is Gilmore and apparently I always had a smile on my face (unintentionally) so the name stuck! And of course who doesn't love a bit of Sandler?

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Just over a week until I start, nervous and excited all at the same time :-D

I start my PhD on the 3rd of October too! I'm moving 500 miles to get there too, still doesn't feel real yet though even though my supervisor has sent me a programme of my first day!

Good luck for your first day too =)

Good luck with the move and the PhD Caro!

Where are you doing your PhD?

I've moved gradually over the years from N.Ireland, Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Dundee and now Aberdeen :-)

I've no idea what I'm doing on day one! I guess I'll find out soon!

I'm just moving away from Aberdeen! I'm moving to South England, it's a small town as I'm working at a research centre and not a University.

It's my last day at work tomorrow then I have half a week to pack before leaving. Hope it's enough time!
