Need advice on masters

J

Hi,

I graduated last summer with a first in bsc business from a UK university ranked around the 60 mark. I am 22 now and want to complete an MBA from a top 5 business school before I am 30, however I feel that my undergrad uni may not have a good enough reputation. I have the opportunity to do a masters from a top 20 uni in the UK and feel this may enhance my chances as there are current MBA students at Harvard who attended this uni, therefore I know for sure that going to this uni will not hinder my chances.

I know there is a lot of other stuff that comes into it such as gmat and so on but I feel now is the time to make this decision, whether to do the masters program or keep working.

Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay, this is a decision only you can make really - but before you commit to a Masters, are you sure you need to? Work experience can be as important as qualifications for some MBAs.

I would read up a little more, and also look at the entry criteria for the universities you are interested in:

Good luck!

Jay, most of the time your previous University doesn't really matter! I have just got a place on the Loughborough International Sports Management MBA by recommendation due to my work experience. I will now be doing this part-time over two years while still working. I would definitely recommend getting experience under your belt first. It opens many more doors to you that a piece of paper cannot.
