Can I change university after an unsuccesful viva

A

I had an unsuccessful viva last year following lack of supervison. I was given 12 months to resubmit with another viva but at the moment I have no one to support my resubmission as my supervisor has left the university and the second will be leaving in September. I am fed of of the system because I feel it has failed me. I was wondering if at this stage I could find another university who will be willing to take me, supervise me and redo my viva with them.

That sounds difficult in admin terms. I think the easiest option would be to find a suitable main supervisor at your current university. If this isn't possible, perhaps you could find an expert at another university who is willing to coach you for the viva. If from another university, this person could be your external supervisor because it would probably be easier to get a new external supervisor than a new university. All of this would be best done before your second supervisor leaves in Sept. It probably wouldn't be difficult to get your second supervisor to continue as your internal supervisor nominally. My guess is that your university might be ok with this setup too i.e. stay at your current university, your second supervisor becomes nominally your main supervisor, and the external supervisor gives you the help you need.

Thank you Metabanalysis,
I haven't thought about that and will check it out.

However what worries me the greatest is that the internal examiners has retired and so a new one will be coming and the external examiner was a big bully to me while I had the last viva even though I never appealed it. So I am imagining what the dynamics of new viva will be like. I feel so intimidated already and that was why I was wondering if a new start would help.
