I'm guessing this happens a lot, but I just wanted to ask - have many people had emails from obscure journals offering to publish papers? And all from journals that want paying for the privilege?

Yes 5-6 per day interpersed with conference invites - none of them are remotely in my field. Careful setting of spam filters can help.

Yes, the invites for conferences outside of my field particularly annoying!!! Not getting 5-6 a day thank goodness tho

I did a google search on this today after receiving an invite from the Journal of Business and Social Sciences (or something like that). It seems to be quite a common scam. I used to get ones where the email address to reply to was a hotmail or yahoo account, but those seem to have stopped.
