I would like to do a PhD in Cancer Research but I have a degree in Food Science & Tech. I have been working as a research assistant in molecular biology. Can someone advise me of my eligibility?

Your work experience will help. Talk to your current boss to see if they think you could move subjects. If they believe your molecular biology is up to scratch, then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to work in cancer research.
