I am an overseas student. I have been offered PhD place. I can begin to study immediately, but that will mean I have to finance myself. What to be careful about funding before registration? How can I have an idea about my chances of getting fudning there next semester?

I am trying to figure out my chances about research assistantship opportunities at the university. Do you think it would be appropriate if I call my prospective supervisor and talk to him about the research assistantship possibilities as well as other issues about my PhD?

Actually I have money enough for one year (fees + living expenses) in cash. If I dont receive anything for next year I ll be in trouble. At least I have to get reduction in fees. By the way, I am in Humanities...
