Is salad cream an underrated condiment?

B

is it's use more prolific in the north?

K

I think it is superior to mayonaise in egg sandwiches and with tuna. Also surprisingly good on chips.

T

Salad cream is the poor man's mayonnaise

B

But damn it, what about the tanginess? you just don't get that with a dollop of mayo? Coastman, are you southern?

A

It's nice on fish fingers too, as a sort of smooth tartar sauce [I have re-discovered fish fingers thanks to my 3yr old nephew, have to be the fillet ones though]

J

For me mustard's the way to go.

K

I love mustard, got to be english though

T

Yep I am Southern. But my Mum lives up north - I do like a pint of Stone's Bitter...

D

Sorry for me, it has to be mayonnaise, I'm sure salad cream is not without its virtues, but you can't beat chips and mayonnaise...classy or what??!!

A

I had a nice salmon salad with lemon mayonnaise for dinner

P

There is a great fish take-away called 'Fish Out of Water' which has probably just opened for the day - they do fantastic grilled Atlantic salmon with a great range of fresh, delicious salads and char-grilled turkish bread with olive oil and sea salt....but that is in Adelaide....South Australia.

P

And their Vicious Fish Burger is to die for. Turkish bread with sweet chilli sauce, grilled fish fillet, olives, chargrilled capsicum, eggplant, onion, jarlsberg cheese - it is better than...well you know what it is better than!

A

Morgan Freeman isn't a girl, is he?

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000151/

P

I had a boyfriend called Morgan when I was 10.

Morgan - if you can get to Australia in 12 hours, can you tell me your secret please? What airline is that?

P

Lol at Morgan!!!
