Is salad cream an underrated condiment?

T

I prefer ketchup

T

Ooo yes that is good too.. so many sauces so little time

P

I don't think this salad cream is such a common condiment here - I certainly have never tried it. Think we are maybe a bit behind the times and still think mayo is in vogue. I will have to check my local supermarket shelves and report back.

It certainly isn't at FOOW, but ketchup (tomato sauce to us) is!

A

Has anyone tried Heinz tomato and chilli table sauce? I was a little disappointed - somehow it is neither tomatoey enough nor spicy enough...

A

Piglet, it has to be Heinz salad cream

P

I always get stage fright at Subway when they ask what type of bread you want, then what type of cheese you want, then what salads you want, then what type of sauce...I get performance anxiety and can't even remember my own name. My boyfriend has had to order for me!

A

LOL@Piglet!!

P

Okay, I need to do some shopping today, so I will search the shelves for Heinz Salad Cream - but what should I try it on? A sandwich? Fish? Chips? A teaspoon?

T

Mmmm subway.. I am hungry now.. I'll have to go and raid the fridge

A

Piglet, you could be really traditional and try it with salad...but that's a bit conventional and I get the feeling that you are up for a new experience, so go straight to fish fingers and chips with salad cream

T

I had a fishfinger sandwich for tea tonight.. but its best served with ketchup i'm afraid lol

P

...ummm...I have never had fish fingers before either.

T

Oh yeah I am with you on that Morgan

P

This is just like the time my sister and brother told me soap tastes like ice cream and I ate it to find out, isn't it? You guys are having a lend of me aren't you?

T

Not tried that Morgan.. will have to try it

When I was a kid I used to try alsorts of bizarre things like sugar puffs and colden syrup on toast. or Jam and cornflakes
