I have a BSc 2.2 and am now doing a MSc, is there realistically any point in applying for a Phd?

Yes. Although it can sometimes be harder to get a place than it is with a 2i, a successfull result in your MSc will qualify you for most studentships. Have a look on FindAPhD for further information.

Yes. I am just in the process iof finishing my masters and have had numerous interviews and offers for PhD places as have all my friends on the course. It is advisable that you go for either something you are really interested in and can prove, or do something related to your dissertation project. I thought the same as you before I started applying, but now I have accepted an offer. good luck

Hi tom, firstly well done in getting a PhD offer. I am in the middle of my masters and I was just wondering if you have to finish your Masters before u apply for a PhD place?

No, you don't need to have finished, but you'll need one of your tutors as a referee (just like when applying for a job or course before the end of your first degree). If you want to start in October you really should start applying now.
