Thread: Harvard Style referencing and Mendeley

I am trying to format my Mendeley-generated bibliography and am a bit confused. I always thought that a Harvard-style bibliography had the date in brackets after the surname and initials of the author. However, none of the Mendeley styles seem to have this - have I got something wrong?

Yes definitely! I discuss how I refined my (too broad) research question in the light of my reading about different research approaches.

Well done on submitting and especially on doing it despite the challenges! I had twins during my PhD, moved jobs and am moving at the end of this month - and am submitting next month! I think it is normal to feel ambivalent about actually finishing - I can't wait on one hand but I know I will also miss being a student and researcher.

Thanks both of you - a mock viva sounds great, wish I could get one! Editing my thesis it just seems so boring - is this normal or am I going to put the examiners to sleep?

Just wondered if anyone is on the home straight. I have to submit by 1 Sept but, factoring in printing etc, I am aiming for 20th August. I have just printed everything out and have scared myself that there is too much to do! (I also have to move house this month and I don't have my computer at the moment as it has broken - just to make things even trickier!) Accountability thread anyone?

Today: read through Chapter One again and note down any edits to make when I get my computer back!

Could you fund it yourself? Maybe part time? That would greatly increase your chances.

Thanks for all the responses. One other thing: can I download it now but install it later (e.g. in Sept after submission!) without paying?

Help! I am not tech savvy and I need your help. Windows 10 is available free until the end of July. I currently use Windows 8. I am writing up and can't deal with a computer disaster at the moment. I also use Mendeley software that I don't want to mess up. Should I upgrade??

I used pomodoro technique plus I got rid of the idea of having a "transcribing phase". I had to mix it up with other activities as it was sending me doolally!

Hello. I am trying to sort out my references and embarrassingly, am still unsure what I should put in as place of publication when two or more cities are given. For example - is the place of publication here Aldershot or Burlington?

I am working in a language that is not my first language and I make mistakes (some of them really cringeworthy on my audio files!) I am writing about my experience of using different languages in a sort of "self-reflection" section in the conclusion. I think you should probably write somewhere about the challenges posed by the language and how you overcame them.
