Hi Zakbrown
Thanks for your reply! I did as you said but the problem now is that if I click the minus sign beside the overall task, not only does the subtask name disappear but also it's bar (bad terminology sorry - I mean the line that show's it's duration).
Does anyone know of a way around this?
Cheers,
EV
Does anyone else use microsoft project? Is there a way include a number of different time frames on the same line for the same task? i.e I worked on a task intermittently from Sept 09-Oct 09, Jan 10-Mar 10, Jan 11- Mar 11.
is there a way to input these for 1 task or do I have to create several different ones?
I've just recently started using Project but need to produce this chart by lunchtime tomorrow!
Microsoft Project isn't bad - it might do what you want, I think? Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!!
Don't think it's free though
Aw no Clairettte - surely it can't have been that bad? What happened?
I know there was a thread on here the other day about the use of the first person in academic writing. I'm currently writing my transfer/upgrade report and have been trying to avoid the use of "I" but it just seems a bit odd that when I'm documenting progress-to -date I'm talking about myself in the third person or not even referring to myself at all and just saying "such and such" has been completed etc.
Does anybody have an opinion on this? Or what did those who've completed these reports do?
I'm in quite a conservative department in a science field by the way.
Sorry Wally, I can't get it either
I can get it - pm me your email address and I'll send it on.
EV
Thanks everyone -SBCC got it for me in the end.
I've voted you all as helpful users :-)

Thanks Delta!
And thanks Wally - you seem to have books on everything!!! I'll pm you right now.
I'm embarrassed to be asking this but I'm in need of a little guidance. I'm about to start some experimental work and I need to think about the number of samples to take and even tests to run so that they are statistically significant. Obviously more is better but the tests are time consuming and expensive so I need to limit them. Can anyone point me in the direction of figuring out this?
I've done a google search multiple times but I seem to just be getting more and more confused :$
I wish I were good at singing. My sister sings in a gospel choir and I can't sing a note :-( The thing is though, I'm not tone deaf - I'm actually quite musical so I can hear exactly how bad I am if I ever do try to sing :$ I secretly wish someone would get me some singing lessons as a gift - my birthday is next month if anyone is interested :p
Batfink we do the projector thing too! In fact yesterday, a ceiling mount thing with an adjustable pole thingy arrived - I think he's starting to take it just a bit too seriously now!
I've been trying to work since about 2pm but so far have only managed to read one paper so I want to have a super-productive next hour!
Goal 1 - read the next paper
Multimedia Environmental Models, Practice periodical of hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste management [1090-025X] Mackay yr:2002 vol:6 iss:2 pg:63
It would be great if anybody has access to this!
Thanks,
EV
Sneaks that sounds rubbish - hope your hubby can sort it out for you!!
Batfink that sounds mmmmmm -I can feel my tummy rumbling!
Well today went a bit better for me :-) This morning was taken up with productive meetings and I almost managed 5 tomatoes this afternoon. Not great but way better than I've been doing lately. Also squeezed in a visit to counsellor who is telling me to look after myself a bit better so I'm going to head home now and try to relax.
