Skig- hopefully the baby pressure is good in a way, it gives you a great incentive to keep plugging away! Are you going off on maternity leave soon? Are there any major work goals you want to get done before baby arrives?

Well done Batfink, sounds like you're making great progress!

Well I'm happy to say that my headache has pretty much gone, yippee. So I'm going to have lunch and then take a look at my journal article.

Have productive afternoons everyone!

Morning everyone!

Well I've woken up to a big fat headache, not good! So I'm not sure how much I'll get done today. I think I might just concentrate on my conference presentation, and then maybe have a look at my journal article this afternoon if my headache clears.

Good luck working today all!

Eugh, I'm having one of those completely unmotivated days today. I've managed to go through my presentation which I'm happy about, but I don't know if I can face planning this journal article, as I've got other stuff on my midn (nothing serious!)

I'm having an early lunch and then will have a brief look at my journal article plan, before maybe giving up.

Morning everyone!

I had to wade through the forum spam to find this thread today!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I'm working on my conference presentation and journal article all this week, nothing else really.

Goal 1- practice presentation
Goal 2- start planning article.

Good luck today all!

Hi Batfink!

I'm here, but not feeling very motivated about work! I think I might just quickly go over my conference presentation, and then give up!

Do scholarship students get EXTRA research money?

It'll depend who you're funded by. I'm funded by the ESRC and I receive an extra £750 per year for conferences/travelling to participants etc. However, it's not like 'here's £750' each year, you get it as and when you use it.

Ooh Skig when is your baby due? Exciting!

Well done Batfink, enjoy the pub!

I'm also done for the day, and am shortly off to the cinema with hubby to see Ted, yippee. I got all my goals done (including finishing and sending my job application) except for practicing my conference presentation. I've still got time though, and I may have a look at it tomorrow afternoon whilst hubby is out.

Have a great weekend everyone!

20 hour part-time job with full time funded PhD?

Quote From cplusplusgirl:

They are very vague in their guidelines, only suggesting that it shouldn't interfere with your studies, and that the part-time job can't be permanent (which it isn't, it's fixed term). I'll send an email to the ESRC person at our uni for more info, but just wondered what you all thought.

Would you apply?

I'm surprised by this because EPSRC states no more than six hours a week and it must be related!

Yes it does seem unusual, but I guess even if they are related in some way they are still separate funding bodies who obviously make their own rules up!

Morning all!

Well, I now have a complete first draft of my thesis, yippee! But I can't hand it in to sup for a few weeks as she's away, so I'm going to spend this time working on another journal article. I also need to prepare for a conference I'm presenting at in a couple of weeks, and I need to do a job application

Goal 1- check conference presentation and print
Goal 2- practice presentation
Goal 3- decide which journal my article will be suitable for
Goal 4- start job application
Goal 5- start planning article

Good luck today all!

Thanks for all your thoughts! Well I've decided to apply for it. My sup is really supportive and agrees it would be a great opportunity, and has given her approval as I'm so far ahead with my thesis. Hope I get it!

Thankyou, I'm just so torn about it all because it's a great opportunity, and would really set me up for post-PhD work. Obviously I don't know if I'd get it, but I want to apply having thoroughly thought about it.

Any other advice?

Morning all!

I managed to edit three chapters yesterday, so hoping to do the same today. I'm then hoping to get out of the house and have a mooch round the shops.

Thanks Pam, I'm awaiting word from the ESRC people at my uni, so will see what they say.

Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Not sure how I missed the PM icon...

I don't think the icon shows if you aren't logged in, so could have been that!
