Personally, i think it depends on your work load. At the moment I am doing mainly 9-5, and that's because it's early days.
Best wishes cc
An almost 1000 word introduction to a chapter seems pretty alright to me, depending on the content anyway and except it's not the main introduction.
I doubt if i make sense
Well done girlie!!
Someone once said to me that when you start, your knowledge is far lower that of your supervisor. At some point, as you go on, you will be about the same and by the time you finish or about to, your supervisor may have no idea what you're talking about anymore (a little exaggeration) because you would have acquired so much knowledge that your supervisors wouldn't have.
...won't have it any other way
I think you might find that this is a common issue in most cases
Good advices so far. One thing however, don't expect too much out of your research in the first few months. People get worked up and depressed when things do not progress as quickly as they envisaged. I am in the same situation. Although i would love my project to move quite quickly, i've learned it doesn't reall work like that. Best wishes!
by the way, that was meant to be good luck
Its everyday for me.
Break a leg
Hmm... I would suggest speaking to someone (probably an academic) in your department. You might get some useful advice.
Review each comment with an open mind and try to see their angle and learn from it. Not everything you'll do will be praised.
I think a diary or a journal is good idea too. I've got one but i'm not so consistent in updating my daily activities
Juno, i totally agree with you. Jojo, like i said earlier i do not know of any other hidden agenda but now that its clear, i now see your angle. The dude has surely got the wrong motives for wnating to help you. In that case, you're completely in the right the decline his offer (and advaces)
However, I am glad you are aware that it is not everyone who wants to help that has alterior motives
