Oh stop being so dramatic, it's not in the slightest - you may have had a bad experience, others have too, but it's by no means endemic.

I was going to be slightly sympathetic but I don't deal with drama queens.

I used the rather superb JabRef 8-) and ended up with about 600 references and about 280 in my final thesis.

I remember this so well - I was based in an office with around 30 other people though, big open plan space and it was atrocious. Hence I used to work from home as it was the only place I could get any work done.

And Paul sounds just like my Dad, he is the noisiest eater I have ever come across!

Interesting to hear but not surprising - I remember when I moved in with my partner and we were only renting and that was hard enough! They didn't seem to have a clue. And it really stumped them when I said I didn't pay tax on it either. But perseverance is the key so well done :)

Yeah, deffo find a departmental secretary, they are always the stars of the department. Like the time DanB was having relationship problems and burst out in tears in the corridor and there she was, like a ray of sunshine :-)

THey will have probably made 80% of their mind up and overwhelmingly it's good news! So don't worry. Hell, I read my pre-viva reports after my viva (they only gave them after the viva at my uni) and my internal basically said he would have failed me but the external (who has the final say) said it was pretty good. We all think it's going to go badly but it's usually pretty rare for it to go dismally! Enjoy :)

Garryck, garryck, garryck. I am a little disappointed to be honest. I understand you are passionate about wanting to make change but insulting us has just lost us, myself included.

I do wish you well, genuinely, but maybe it's time to find a new audience.

Do you have a direct number you can contact them on? A lot of academics may be away for conferences as well over Easter so might not have access to email coupled with the break itself.
