Hi Emaa, in the same situation myself although a bit nearer to my university. I don't go in that much because of the cost of petrol, but getting on campus helps keep me a bit more focussed. Setting yourself targets helps of course, and doing a variety of things too.
Is upgrade equivalent to doctoral progression? I too had to go through this twice, even though the changes were essentially cosmetic and the assessors agreed my project was good and that I was capable of delivering it. They also tried to get me to change direction, which I refuse to do. So don't get discouraged, it sounds like you're on the right track.
It depends on your supervisor. I try not to remind my supervisor about things as he generally gets round to them - however that cost me a funding opportunity recently!
I co-authored one paper with my supervisor, but he contributed a great deal to the paper. He wouldn't expect it otherwise, I don't think.
Pikirkool,
well it depends on what you're being tight-lipped about, doesn't it? I can't quite see your point, given that bringing an idea to fruition takes a lot of work.
Too much paranoia and cynicism hinders academic development. The earlier on in the project you are, the more tight-lipped you should be, but once you've done most of the work, no one can "scoop" you.
I get about £25.50 I think per hour
Yeah, I'm aiming for somewhere similar, fingers crossed!
It's something I need to seriously think about, as my project is both medical and legal - so probably neither examiner will be conversant with all of the basic principles. I haven't got an answer, apart from adding a medical and legal glossary to my thesis.
It depends entirely on the audience. In the case of examiners, you can assume they are very knowledgeable, although they may not know the specifics of your particular area of the field.
Well I'm going to wear my suit, just as I would for a job interview - even if it isn't how I'll be dressed for work.
In my opinion, it is completely unacceptable for your supervisor to not read your thesis. It beggars belief.
I haven't heard of this before, but it would seem to me to be an upgrade. People would certainly be able to access it.
Well done you (up)
Over the last few days I've been working like a dog! And there's only so much brainwork you can do, contrary to common perception using your brain is quite tiring.
