Dear sir,
I am writing to apply for the position of PhD student on fluid mechanics with reference number: ***, as advertised on your department website. I hold a Master's degree in mechanical engineering-energy conversion from ***, and a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from ***.
In my Master's dissertation, I investigated the developing flow of viscoelastic fluid in a curved pipe with an annular cross section, numerically using a second order finite difference method based on the projection algorithm to solve the governing equations. It requires the development of a a computer-based program. I enclose my paper on this subject which is to be published in due course in ***. I would like to continue working on numerical analyses of fluid mechanics, and have been awaiting an opportunity to demonstrate my experience in computational fluid dynamics. I also have experience in parallel processing method in numerical analysis.
Having completed my degrees, I focused on a professional career, and currently hold the position of *** at ***, a gas turbine designer and manufacturer. I work on the dynamic simulation of natural gas plant in order to select the correct anti-surge control system, which ensures gas compressor stability. A technical report of what I have been working on is also enclosed.
I look forward to discussing this position with you further and enclose my c.v. for your perusal; references and letters of recommendation will arrive separately. If you require any additional, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Yours faithfully,
***
Camouflage...
I call spam, especially as it's the second posting of the same thing.
By 'beautiful surroundings,' Windowsill must mean the whisky distilleries of course ;)
No worries Nesrine I know what you mean. Otherwise, we might as well post our passports here ;)
Good luck with it though!
The cynical would doubtless point out the cost-savings to an institution at that rate... and why they don't employ any more staff.
Bout £15/ph or so?
Send it to someone here. We are surrounded by scientists ;) but there's the odd humanities bod (like me: "very odd"! of course). Just remove your name. Then you receive the same anonymity as the peer-review process. If that's a concern, that is. Good luck!
Edit- sorry Nesrine I have just realised that you know exactly who we are!
To some extent dependant on what version of each you are using; but try:
For Word 2011 > Tools > EndNote X4 > Format Bibliography >From the Format Bibliography window select the Instant Formatting tab > Turn Off > OK
*Laughs out loud*
That could backfire of course... "R&R, bring it back to us when we don't need the proplus" ;)
Yeah seriously. Can you ask any of your sups off the record- or anyone else in the research div?
Not necessarilly mate. Fella had a 100K max; submitted c. 80,000; passed viva outright last month. Modern history bod. I.e: it's what you say, not how long it takes you to say it!
Thanks janjansen ;) I'll go back to my toys ;)
It would probably help himself if Wilson E. Roberts, Esq., started his own thread instead of asking the same question in three different threads; he has so far received two different comments in two different places.
