Yeah, I don't really want to resort to paying for articles, but I did consider it. I'm going to pester our librarian right now! And then I'll e-mail the author. Thanks.

What do you do in your spare time ?
G

I spend a lot of time trying to get endnote to work. Well at least that is what I am doing now!

Apart from that I like cats a lot and work as a volunteer at a cat rescue at the weekend. I also do yoga and eat chocolate muffins and watch most haunted (not all at once though!)

Keep the discussions coming - you're keeping us all entertained! Can't answer the last one though, I want to keep my anonymity. There are lots of fun questions we could answer like 'have you ever seen a proper red and white spotty mushroom (in the flesh)?' I see them on the way to my lab in the mornings. As for this one.. I listen to music, play music, start lots of (fiction) books but never finish them, watch Neigbours... another post 'How many years have you been watching Neighbours for?' - it was the 20th anniversary yesterday......and I've been watching for at least 19!

I think there is no need for the harassment seen on this forum. Everyone asks stupid questions sometimes, I know I do. :)

Neither do Uni of Sheffield. You might be able to get it through ingentaconnect if you don't mind paying around £15?

So when you aren't sat at your desk poring over journal papers and the suchlike, what does everyone like to get up to ?

Thanks to Stu for the suggestion of the title for this post.

God, petrol is so expensive these days. I was watching on the local news earlier a place that converts your engine to run on sunflower oil. Works out about 72p a litre apparantly.

What is your supervisor called ?
G

My supervisor is called Hardic Kushag.

Leeds or UCL?

Maple leaf, you can get a decent veggie meal pretty much anywhere in this country (except very random isolated locations), it's the best place in the whole world for vegetarians! I reckon you should go to Leeds, you could always travel to london as part of your studies?

Gingerly, I'm a british-born Indian so you could say I have the best of two worlds. I have also travelled widely and lived and worked abroad for a while. What does this have to do with the price of petrol?

Thank you Jen! At least someone is on my side.
Ok ok, what can we agree on? Why must academics be so brutal and have no sense of compassion. They will most likely not get a PhD, and I am not expecting a prof to offer me one because I said I want one, but there is no sense of making fun of them. Have either of you traveled outside the UK? Perhaps experienced another culture? It would give you a different perspective. Thank you for the cocoa, I shall put it in my coffe, aka "elixir of life"

Thanks for all your input everyone. Barry B, what do you think about the city life? Is it mostly students? Are there cultural activities? Can I get a decent vegetarian meal?

I agree with you, Stu.

I got told the area to look at and went out and found the stuff to read. But yeah, make notes, read further around. There is no right or wrong way to go about things. It'll be better once you start seeing your supervisor regularly and establish a direction to your research. But don't run before you can walk, it'll take time !
