Just wanted to add to Ady and KeenBean's words of encouragement - you can do it! You're so nearly there, hurray! Really rooting for you (up)

Aah you two, you make me feel so much better! I am exactly the same, hehe! I'm feeling much better now thankfully, the medicinal chocolate must have worked its magic! I am now counting down the time until I can eat lunch!

A fine excuse for eating chocolate if ever I heard one :-) I might have to give it a trial, purely in the name of scientific research you understand, after all, that is our job ;-)

Hehe yes I'd like to own up to the "avoiding the One Goal Thread when you've not been as productive as you'd like" club!

Hope everyone is doing ok this morning, I'm feeling a bit light headed and woozy this morning which is not ideal when I have to travel later to get to supervision.... hopefully I'll feel a bit better later as I really don't want to miss this one today :-( anyone got any tips for feeling a bit faint? I've had a breakfast cereal fortified with iron!

This morning I'm still reading through my draft... I will get there!

Days from submission and I'm so tired!
L

Just wanted to add to the positivity Pineapple - keep going, you will get there! As Skig said, if the examiners thought you were a fail they would have told you then and there rather than waste your time! Not long to go now - I find it useful to write very detailed work plans so I know what I'm doing day to day, otherwise I feel a bit adrift! Don't know if that might help you in these final weeks? :-)

I know what you mean Batfink - I didn't always call my husband my fiance either, it sounds too much like fancy for my liking! It's interesting what you say about civil partnership rather than marriage - I confess I'd never thought about it much but I do believe that there should be universal equality when it comes to being joined together - whether you're heterosexual or not. You've really sparked some interest for me there so I am going to have to go away and read about the different partnerships now! (Perhaps I should have done this before I got married, huh!) Well (extremely) belated congratulations anyway, sounds like you got engaged around the same time as me!

Today I'm continuing to read through and mark up my draft, it's amazing how blind you get to a piece of work when you've concentrated so hard on it for so long - I haven't looked at the draft for 2 weeks but now I'm reviewing I keep finding stupid typos and such, grr! At least it is only in draft and hasn't been submitted! Hope you are all having a good day whatever you're doing, and thank goodness for the sunshine!

Please someone say something..anything to help me
L

Congratulations Heidi, that's great news. How inspiring that you've made it! Best of luck for the future to you and your little girl (up)

Hi Button (and everyone else)! I am also back from my holiday which was much needed! I really do think it's important to have a break away from the work from time to time! Sounds like you've had a good day yesterday Button, well done on getting your article sent off!

My main goal for today is to start reading through my draft in preparation for a supervision meeting on Thursday, so I imagine that'll keep me busy for the rest of today and most of tomorrow too!

BTW - Batfink - your fiance? Have you just become engaged? How exciting! (up)

URGENT : Sample PhD Proposal needed
L

Agree with Hazyjane. Additionally, if you carry out a web search on PhD proposal you should be able to find some ideas and guidance about what is required. But really, this is something you need to do yourself.

Application and GRE Test
L

Hi Alex,

It's difficult to answer this question as I'm in the UK and we don't (as far as I know!) utilise the GRE. I think you need to direct this question at the university you are applying to, and if it's required then you need to brush up on your maths before the test! Sorry I can't be more helpful!

Looks like I'm the only one around here! I'm planning a paper for a conference so I'm working on structuring that today. Hope everyone's having a good day, wherever you are!

Transfer to MS to a different uni from phd program
L

Haven't you already asked a similar question to this?

I don't think your credits will be transferred to be honest, your best bet is to contact other universities and find out if they will accept you. You may have to face the facts that if you don't want to do a PhD then you probably will have to start again. Just send an email to the admissions team at a few universities and make an enquiry about their acceptance for MSc programmes.

I'm afraid I have no idea what TOEFL is so I can't really help you there.

Should I quit funded PhD
L

Agree with LarryDavid and Delta - don't quit until you've got a job to go to. Leaving after a year is better than staying on, losing motivation and leaving after 2 or even 3 years of study.

Just passed my viva !!

Congratulations!
