I can't complete it because it asks me for a 'valid email address' for the first box for 'what cause have you given to'! There seems to be a problem with it.

Transcription software anyone?

I've been using Transcription Buddy (recommended by somebody on here). It allows you to slow down the recording, put pauses in, step back etc. You can download the software as a free trial.

I've still got a few hours of interviews to transcribe - it does take ages, but, like you, I'm finding the process really helpful for analysis. :-)

Qualitative PhD - how many interviews will be sufficient?
M

Hi, I would say a lot depends on your methodology. With some approaches, like Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, you only need a few interviewees (less than 10 in the case of IPA). Others keep doing interviews until they reach saturation. It also depends on how many participants you manage to recruit! I'm really struggling with this, I'll be very happy if I end up with 10 - but then I am using IPA, so it should be fine. My research is also longitudinal, so I'm doing a number of interviews per participant.

Please someone say something..anything to help me

Well done, that's brilliant news! All the best for your 'new start'. :-)

Journal of Reproductive and Infant Psychology Access
M

I have used JRIP a lot (it sounds like we work in a simlar subject are :-)) and I'm fairly sure that papers from the early 1990s are not accessible online. I do have access to the journal in the library though. Next time I'm there (next Friday) I'll copy the paper (it's likely to be relevant for me too!), scan it and email it to you, if you're still looking for it.

How exciting! :-) You'll be fine!

As I'm getting closer to the end (not that I actually believe I will ever finish...) I am beginning to wonder what I will do afterwards. I hadn't really thought about that at all before I started. :$

PhD program with 34 years old?
M

Are you worried that you are too old? I don't think this is an issue. I was 40 when I started my PhD. :-)

Good luck with it!
