Thanks for your response. My plan was to have
In-depth interviews with both groups. Start with adolescents then take their
inputs to built my nurse practice model with nurses. Third level would be
consultation with experts to finalize my model. However the challenge is that am
I using the correct methodology by choosing the Grounded Theory(Corbin and
Strauss) and theoretical sampling? Olgiez

Dear Colleagues
I am in the process of developing my proposal. My study aims at developing a nurse practice model to assist adolescents. My plan was to use adolescents accessed through local schools and the nurses from clinics within the catchment area.
The reason behind this is to get the nurses ideas on what they coud do better shifting from doing things the traditional way i.e moralising and preaching to adolescents in the old ways ladden with negative attitude. on the other hand consult adolescents as well to get their insight into how nurses could help them. probably they will highlight what they would like nurses to do to help them in a much more positive fashion to build their self-esteem and self-confidence.
i thought it is fair for adolescents to have their say. For a long time interventions have been planned for adolesents without them. I attended a lot of workshops where youth and adolescents say it in uncertain terms that they are sick and tired of adults planning without them. In this case my innovation would be roping adolescents to be involved in giving input to development of a nurse practice model aimed at assisting them.
What do you think dear colleagues?
Please give me guidance? your contributions are always valued.

Please help me to understand and to be able to simplify the Ontological, Epistomological assumption as applied in Strauss and Corbin. I tried my best to readd about it but I could not get more articles where this is refered to so that I can learn in detail how other researchers used it. Dear Friends and Colleagues
I envy everybody who already got their ethical approvals for their Research Proposals and those who have their VIVAs. I am working tirelessly to get my proposal write up correct. Not as easy as i thought. However I will hanging in there because I vowed to finish in 4 years.
I am doing a lot of reading on Grounded Theory and articles relevant to my topic. Getting learned indeed. It is not a walk in the park. I really miss my relaxation time prior this PhD journey. My friends and family tell me that this is the way it should be because otherwise everybody would be Doctors if it was that easy.
I have a very supportive family of 3 (my husband- I studied 3 of my other degrees in our bed until at 2am with lights, while he was sleeping -poor soul, so accomodating, a 21 yrs old hardworking daughter and 17 yrs old clever but lazy to pull socks son who wants me to collect degrees).
well I hope in 2015 I will reach my goal. not ready to give up on it now. There is too much at stake here.
Olgiez
Congratulations. You are the third inspiration for my PhD viva this week. the 1st is a lady at my church who graduated her PhD in Mathematics. the 2nd is a friend of mine who got her reply today through her Supervisor that she has been awarded her PhD. the 3rd is You today just passed your viva.
For me the book about the VIVA intimidated me big time. the 2 Manuscript of final thesis of other PhD students also added to my stress. I am worried but determined that when i turn 50 am giving myself a present of a PhD. I am going to work very hard to make my dream come true.
thanks for sharing your viva with us..
Dear Colleagues
I need help as soon as you can. I just registered this year to study PhD with University of Pretoria. I need a simplified explanation on what is it all about and how this model works?
I am in a process of writing my research proposal. My work will be focusing on developing a model of practice to improve the service delivery for adolescents to access health facilities to get quality sexual reproductive health care services to empower them to become resilient to withstand sexual coercion. I am reading Research Books and Journal to get a better understanding. If somebody can explain Grounded Theory it will help me to speed up my writing. Thanks, Olga.
