I'd have thought you would need a Human Rights / Law background to do a PhD in human rights? Check out some departments and contact some potential supervisors.

Masters/PhD/Job dilemma

I thought a part-time Masters would be a good idea? That way you can get a job but stay in with the masters too? Masters could be done in too years and its never too late to start a PhD.

Cont - Also, I just need to say, your 'supervisor not reply to emails' is not a sufficient excuse for not seeing him/her enough. You need to speak to the management of research degrees to get this back on track.

You need to speak to somebody 'independent' of the project. Somebody equivalent to the head of the research degree committee in your department. You should go to the office and see who you need (cont)

The chance, so take the Uni job and if you get the other one tell the Uni you don't want it any more. Also, it seems you don't want to do a PhD, so take one of the jobs and forget about it.

My thoughts are that you need money to live - if you don't get funding can you live? If you, you'll need funding.

An important question is whether you have the money to support yourself full time for 3-4 years? You probably won't be able to work while doing a PhD.
