Hi Emaa, I have never come across a thesis that was not in A4 format. Would it help to look at copies of previous theses submitted to your university, lodged in the library? You could also try asking the graduate school if they know of any guidelines. I agree with Clupea; it is very rare for there to be no guidelines at all.
Hi Emaa - I have never come across this. Have you been asked to format something as 'book format'? If so what is it - article submission, or thesis, perhaps? Might help to solve the mystery!
P.
The number of hours we put in is sooo personal and dependent on so many factors! Have you seen Spiderpig's recent thread:(VERY) Close to submitting - amount of work? It may be enlightening, or comforting, or make you green with envy! In any case, the differences you see on this forum - from 24/7 toil for five years to 9-5 for three - are at least the experiences of people who are actually doing the job, so to speak.

Sorry, Emmaki - no luck.
All I found was this: http://www.proactivepublications.com/store/journal-of-women-in-educational-leadership.asp, but have no idea what their 'nominal charge' is! :p

You could put the 12k words on one side for a couple of journal articles - you could draft them during a load of washing ;-)

While I have no experience of Office 2010 in most of the other versions PowerPoint was a lot more flexible than Word for basic graphics - may be worth a try.

pp.22-23 *may* help ... but no guarantees!
PM me an email to send it to? :-)
Your friend will probably have a list of minor errors to take into the viva, which they could add this to. If these verbatim sentences are spotted they can say they had noticed they had omitted to put inverted commas round the quote. If not spotted, just make it into a quote before the final printing/binding. That way it is just an acknowledged typo, not unwitting plagiarism :-)
Hi
Can I add an IMO?
A PhD thesis is a formalised exercise, rather like show-jumping. You have to clear all the different jumps, in the right order, before you get to the end of the course. Missing out a jump, or indeed riding straight from the beginning to the end it is a supremely logical solution that will get you a record time, but the judges will disqualify you for not jumping over all the gates. The aim is to get to the end in the approved way and not knock down or clatter enough jumps to wake up the judges :p
Now who's been watching too much Olympic coverage? ;-)
What a cliffhanger! I am agog ... please give us the end of the instalment - hope it's good :p
Do your university's doctoral guidelines/regulations cover this? The form and presentation of additional material is often specified.
It's on 18th July I think, Ian.
