bettyspaghetti & olivia- this is otherwise known as being flat-footed. If you have no arches on the insides of your feet, then your feet roll inwards causing lots of pain! It can also lead to bunions and other foot problems. Shoes such as ballet pumps have almost no sole so they don't absorb shock from walking.
I have flat feet and wear orthapaedic insoles to stop my feet from rolling inwards, otherwise I would be in agony all day. I always find its best to get any feet problems checked out at the doctors ASAP as once your feet are runied there is no going back.
Accept no imitations!! Never, i love meat and am not ashamed to admit it.
Thanks for the tips Jouri, am using high-flouride mouthwash after lunch and flouride tootpaste on the recommendation of my dentist. Hopefully it will do the trick and I won't need any more fillings!
I just hope my toe gets better- am going on holiday on Thursday evening to the Isle of Wight- it's supposed to be a walking holiday!
We've already had to change our plans, because my boyfriend dislocated his shoulder two weeks ago and now can't drive. So we are getting the train down. My holiday seems to be dooomed!!!
Just thought I would share for everyones amusement!
So....went to the dentist two weeks ago (£75) and she said I need 3 fillings (£145), two of which I had done on Friday. I've got another dentisit appointment for a week on monday. Just made an appointment with my podiatrist (foot specialist) because I have this horrible pain in the joint of my big toe. It really hurts. So that will cost me a minimum of £35. I know I also need to make an appointment at the opticians next month because my contact lenses contract demands I get tested every year, and will probably lead to a new pair of glasses.
I swear I am falling apart and I am only 22. My supervisor is going to think somethings up soon, because I keep having to tell him that i'm gonna be late in or got to leave late for some appointment. It's crazy.
"Soya bacon is better than the real stuff"
A brit would never say that. I could not live without bacon sandwiches, they are the best thing about british food. Got to be sliced white bloomer, with smoked bacon from the butchers, and loads of tommy k....heaven! Mmmmmm.......bacon!
I feel like I have achieved a lot today, and that I am making good progress. It is quite a liberating experience being forced to do something you don't really want to do, and suceeding in it. I actually feel like a PhD student today. Am going to have a break tonight and a lay in tomorrow as I think I have deserved it. Hopefully then I will feel refreshed to keep working on the PhD.
Anyways, hope everyone has been working hard tomorrow. I will catch up with all your posts tomorrow!
Hello *clocks in*
Thankyou everyone for your good wishes, I think it definatly helped! I think I sucessfully achieved todays aim-to survive! The presentation went ok, managed to keep going for approx 25 mins. And then we discussed it afterwoulds for about 20 mins. Nobody asked any akward questions either so my slides must have been informative. The meeting with my supervisors went well- it lasted 2 hours!! Talked through the presentation which really helped, they liked the slides and gave me some good ideas and I got to practice explaining a few things. Got some help with the analysis that I need to do, so it was very helpful in all.
Lara- I didn't know you were UOL same as meeee!!! Nice to find a fellow London student! Seems like you are getting on really well with your write up! Keep up all the good work!
Thanks, mine is for a journal club so hopefully will get some good discussions going! Am writing notes on a copy of my slides....am so scared I will say something stupid in front of all the big wigs in the department!
Doing a presentation today, gonna have a run through this afternoon somewhere quite- I think it will help to have it all in my head by running through it on my own out loud! Wish me luck!
Hey guys! Am clocking in today its 9:41 in London.
--------------
Today's Aims:
1. Survive!!!
I have a meeting with both my supervisors this morning, so am preparing some bits to show them. This afternoon I am giving a presentation to some people in the department for a journal club.
Am just hoping that I am going to get through today OK, I don't really want to give the presentation and am nervous but I know that worrying isn't going to help. Will try and fit a practice in at around lunchtime if I can find somewhere quite. I practiced through a couple of times with my boyfriend last night, but he didn't have a clue what I was on about!
Anthropologa- Thanks for your support.
I hope everyone has a good day, and gets lots of work done! Wish me luck!!
Billys xx
We have a tradition in our family where the eldest son of each generation is called Daniel. So hence my brother is Danny, my grandad was daniel and my great-grandad was Dan, etc. The only generation not to have a daniel, was my dad's- my granny was too stubborn to use the name!
My brother and his g/f are having their first baby and are going to carry on the tradition, I think its really nice.
So the other bits will have to wait till friday, but I have found that I have really upped my concentration and my work rate!
Anthropologa- I have a macbook so will download the timer- it sounds good and just what I need!!
Hope everyone has a good evening and will report in tomorrow!
Hellooo, checking in again.
Ok so I had a really bad day today and didn't manage to get any of my aims done today I started work on the analysis, but the dataset is so messy that it took me ages to do anything. And then the computer just didn't like the analyses that I was running, so will have to try and get my supervisor for half an hour for some help. What dosn't help is that the person whose data it is has emailed me today asking when I will have it finished!
Starting to have a major panic-up about the presentation I am giving tomorrow. So I finished the slides this afternoon and did a little bit of research on bits that I wasn't clear about. My supervisor then came by and suggests some slides to put in and also informed me that he has invited 3 other people to the talk. Am a bit worried about it but am gonna have a practise tonight on my boyfriend!
