Hi Rhea,
I'm sorry you've been feeling down, as others have said, support can sometimes be so helpful! I know your thesis is due on Friday so if you can talk to a friend or a family member even if it's just to let some steam off?
The writing up can be the most stressful time (it certainly has been for me and I'm not quite done yet!) so making sure you take care of yourself is really important. You're are sooo almost there! Keep it up! And do let us know how things are, ok?
Take good care of yourself.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one working today;-)
Thanks Tey, you too, good luck with your formatting! I'm sure you'll manage to submit tomorrow:-) I'm not far off myself but until I get some feedback from sups, this is pretty much all I can do, refs, appendices and formatting! Not much fun but definitely needed!
Hey Googooboo,
I'm sorry you're having such a tough time with your sup. It seems to me that your sup is very anxious himself and perhaps a bit of a perfectionist? I'm not sure how your relationship with him is but I wonder if you could have an open chat about these difficulties? I wonder if your sup is aware of his behaviour and how impacts on you, that's all. If I were you AND I knew they'd be open to constructive feedback, I'd have an honest conversation but you'd know best if you're able to do this...
Good luck!
@Tey61 - I had a v quick look and it just seems to advise you not to add page breaks prior to cross-referencing - it might say more but I've not got the time to read it right now. Good luck!
@Ady - I think your idea worked. I'll try on a few more later. Thank you!
I had a similar problem where I'd already inserted a page break and word inserted a section break all by itself. I originally couldn't delete the section break but finally managed to through using the 'delete' key rather than 'backspace' if that makes sense. Have you tried that?
Agreed with Dunny re: Anglia Ruskin regarding location and it is an ok uni but I'd say it depends on the subject. I only ever been to Uni of East London for an open day and wasn't very keen as my impressions were that they were not very organised at all but it doesn't mean that it's not a good uni either.
If I were you I'd look into the departments, like staff interests etc before you choose.
Good luck!
I'm still on references and appendices. Really didn't think it was going to be that hard. Thanks to Ady's tip I'd started doing bits of referencing every day but there's still a fair bit left and appendices are a killer. That reminds me I need help with that... off to start a thread.
Maybe you're a worrier... but I don't think you're alone on this one, we work hard for our thesis and we want to succeed!
A couple of weeks ago I wanted to change two whole chapters because I started doubting my own work even though sups were happy with it already. I started emailing them about different stuff only for them to come back arguing against the changes I wanted to make, and after about 3/4 emails I'd noticed what I was doing... Like you, I'm worried that I won't pass, I worry that the examiners will just be there to put me down and I don't use the word hate very often, but I hate oral exams, so a viva is my worst nightmare.
I don't worry about plagiarism though but I worry that I won't be able to submit on time, that they won't accept it for some silly reason, etc... but now that I know that I'm worrying, I can take a step back and think 'logically'. Because I know that I can't predict what the viva will be like or whether I'll pass, but I know that feeling anxious doesn't help either and I'd much prefer to do something else than feeling anxious ;-)
I know it's hard but try not to worry... I know, easier said than done! But there are ways around it, you just need to find something that works for you8-)
Good luck!
