Congrats Batfink! I really hope you get the job!!
Thank you Benyaya and Batfink. Last night I was thinking that it didn't matter if I don't get to do as much I'd originally planned before baby is born, as I'll still have time to do it afterwards but... then today, I realised that one of the things I've been working and struggling with isn't quite right and it'll need a lot more work done :( all the pressure to do loads before baby is born came back then which is not good for either of us!
Right now I feel like I'm swimming against the current here so I'm going to do another few bits and bobs and call it a day I think. I just need the headspace...
Just wanted to say I agree with Ady and wouldn't get rid of an R&R, you may be grateful you still have notes and resources, etc you can go back to instead of starting from scratch. Obviously, I'm really hoping you'll pass with flying colours but it doesn't cost much to hang on to stuff until that happens...
Hi Noctu,
I haven't come across that but as the topic of my thesis is so unique (more like random :p), I had to look for reviewers outside my little bubble.
The way I did it was to look for someone who was fairly knowledgeable in the analysis method and another two who had conducted research in similar topics. I just looked at my reference list and papers related to the topic and then googled the authors to see what their interests were like.
If you need them to be from another country, you could just see their affiliated institution on their paper? That will tell you where they're based so you wouldn't have to google them?
Good morning!
Yesterday was another slow moving day but I think I've come to realise that the tiredness from the pregnancy is taking over and I should just take a nap if I need to so batteries get recharged.
Goals for today:
1) admin
2) have a last look at my poster - it's finally done and just need sups to have a look through :-)
3) do some reading
4) tackle the analysis section of my article - this is dragging a bit so I'm only planning to get a smaller section done today
Have a productive day!
Morning all!
Hi Batkink! Well done with the swimming and good luck with your goals. IT may not feel like you're making much progress but the way I see it, any moves forward are steps in the right direction ;)
I've been working on 5 different things for the past few days and just managed to finish the first one this morning so I'm a happy bunny :) I'll have a read through again tomorrow before sending it to sups. I'm also hoping to finish my poster in soon so fingers crossed.
Goals for today: do some more reading till lunchtime, then work on the poster, then my article and if there's time left, my intro. Breathe in, breathe out...
Good morning!
Day so far has been quite good, done some admin already and I've been swimming! Last time I went I was sore for days afterwards so I decided to go easy today.
Goals for today:
1- do some reading
2- work on my poster
3- edit analysis section of my journal article
4- edit intro thesis
As for tomatoes, I generally find it quite useful. I know what you mean when there's 5 mins left and you don't want to start a new thing. I just use those 5 mins to do some admin or look up references, etc. I've assigned a number of tomatoes for each of my goals so I'll let you know how it went later.
Have a good day everyone!
I know what you mean benyaya. I don't know how long things take but I need to work on several these simultaneously so I try to divide my available time amongst them if that makes sense?
Can't say today was a very productive day. It started quite well but seems slowed down throughout the day. Hubby is away this week with work again so I'm going to make the most of it and work for another hour or so tonight.
Hi Satchi,
I may be wrong but plagiarism is when you're copying someone's work/words without acknowledging. If I found the same information from a different source or my own research and stated the same thing, I don't think it'd be plagiarism if that makes sense. It may be worth considering the context. If the sentence is found in the introduction for example, I'd expect some sort of reference added.
As for rephrasing, how about 'as the weight increases, so does the pattern'?
I'm sure there are other ways but my Monday morning brain can only think of this one for now...
Good morning!
I'm glad you had a good weekend Batfink.
Button, sorry you didn't win the euromillions. I forgot to buy a ticket :( maybe next time!
I had to do some bits of work over the weekend but still had some time off. Not done anything exciting but it was nice not to be working (even if at times I found myself thinking about it!).
I have several different things to work on at the minute and I don't want to leave any in case I lose track so I'll have a ponder on how best to get everything done. How do you do it? I'm tempted to use mytomatoes, split time available into number of tomatoes and assign numbers (time spent) on each thing...
On a different subject, what computer programme do you use to make a poster? I need to make one for a conference that is fast approaching!
I hope you all manage to get lots done today!
