Today I have to send everything to my supervisor. It is broken down into 3 documents, so my goals are to edit and link everything together one document at a time.
I have decided just to cut out the stuff that I'm not clear on yet. Not ideal but I am running out of time!
I am now starting to pull everything together. My next goal is to ruthlessly edit one document, as I know my supervisor is going to tell me that the examiner isn't going to want to read 5000 on this particular topic.
This morning I sorted out my methodology chapter (yay!), then spent the rest of the time faffing around at the gym, the library and on the phone sorting out a claim with a travel agent (which is finally being resolved!).
This afternoon I really need to blast it and start to get everything together. My next goal is to sort out a section of literature which is still all over the place.
Today I am tying up loose ends and starting to pull everything together. My first goal is to sort out 2 sections in my methods chapter.
I have now tidied up one document. I am moving on to a second document now which should hopefully be easier. I can't be bothered to work past 5 or so today no matter what, but it will mean longer days tomorrow and Wednesday if it takes too long.
I can't wait to take a long weekend after I have handed it all in on Thursday! I have been day dreaming about all the nice things I'm going to do.
Oh it's a shame you couldn't take today off. Hopefully it won't take you too long today.
Today I have 2 things that I want to get done. First off I have one document to tidy up and pad out. I'm hoping it won't end up taking me all day but it needs a lot of work so I'll see.
I have now defeated the marking. After a 65ish hour week I am going to really enjoy a going out for dinner and wine tonight! Go us!
I have now worked my way through the document, apart from one section which I have purposely left until Tuesday when I'll be in the library. I'm starting to really feel like it is all coming together now, phew.
My next goal is to mark the remaining 5 papers so that I don't have to worry about doing any tomorrow!
Snap, Batfink. My OH has been away too so it has been easy to carry on like it isn't the weekend. He is back this afternoon though. I also need to do some housework- his brother wanted to come over for a BBQ later but I said no, partly because I haven't done any tidying up all week and the house is a mess and I don't want to get lumbered with cleaning up after wards!
I really don't have it in me to work until the evening today and want to be done by around 2. My first goal is to tidy up and pad out one document.
I'm glad to see you're around today Batfink. I love my weekends so I am getting through it by pretending that it isn't Saturday. I have finally achieved my first goal and finished drafting out the section. It has been slow and quite painful.
My goal for the rest of the afternoon is to mark 4-6 papers and then to take the evening off.
My first goal today is to finish drafting out the section I got part way through yesterday.
Enjoy your evening off! It encourages to hear about your success getting the paper together. I find that I sometimes submit work to my supervisor thinking its crap but it turns out it is fine so hopefully this won't be as bad as I think it is!
I couldn't face working on the section from scratch for long and I am wondering whether I actually need to include it at all. So I worked on an easier section instead which is now good enough not to worry about again.
I'm now going to mark 6-9 papers.
Work is going so-so today. I am getting a fair bit done but have started panicking about how much I have to do by my deadline next week. To be fair it is a very first draft but I know it''' be nowhere near the standard it needs to be.
I have now tidied up and padded out one section. I'm now going to pop out to the shops and clear my head a bit and have another section to start more or less from scratch this afternoon.
Did you get your references done?
I'm starting to feel burnt out after a week of long days. So I might take it easy today. My main goal is to pad out a section which still needs a lot of work.
I hope that you are on track for your deadline!
I have now finished the document I was working on. It isn't fantastic but it will do if I don't have time to edit it again before my deadline next Thursday. My next goal is to mark 9 papers.
