Goal 1 done.
Next goal is to continue until lunch at 1.
I also have a bigger goal, of being at a stage next week where I can start talking about having sections finished, rather than setting goals of time spent working!
Morning all.
Today is mainly about writing for me. So the first goal is to write solidly between now and 11.30.
I have totally ran out of steam with my writing. Didn't manage much more after lunch and did some transcribing instead.
My goal for the rest of the day is to do as much marking as I can between now and 5pm.
Waaah- I am dreading my cat managing to catch anything living and bringing it in. Definately a good skill to have.
My morning went well- did 6 tomatoes writing solidly. I'm starting to flag a bit now so will have lunch and will then move on to a different section.
I wanted to get an early start today but failed miserably. I have a deadline to submit some stuff to my supervisors next Friday so the goal is to write on this. I was counting on having the rest of the week apart from tomorrow clear to work from home and really get on with it, but had an email this morning about a meeting Thursday morning :-s
So I must get on with things! I will ease myself in with the goal of spending 2 tomatoes writing.
Another one who works from home here. I only live half an hours walk away but by the time I take into account time faffing around getting ready I do save a lot of time. My boyfriend also mainly works from home, although not doing a PhD so he has to stick to 9-5 hours and I think him doing this helps me to do the same.
The only thing I have found a problem is switching off and having a distinction between home and work.
I have run out of steam with my writing for today but made good progress on a particular section.
I'm now going mark some papers until 4.30 (early finish because today is like Friday for me and I'm off out during the early evening!).
gah, I don't feel like I've got very far at all this morning. I'm working on a huge section at the moment, so I am going to print it off so I can see what I've written rather than scrolling on the screen, which should hopefully help.
But the next goal is to work out and have lunch before getting back to it.
Yes, it's good to have a plan of what you're going to do for the whole day, but can be demotivating if you set yourself tasks which you don't get round to.
Goal number 1 done. I am now going to continue writing for 3 tomatoes!
Good morning!
Yesterday I didn't manage my goal of writing all afternoon, I was tired and gave up just after 3 and did some marking instead. Instead of setting myself up for failure today I am going to start with the manageable goal of writing solidly for 2 tomatoes.
Happy birthday for tomorrow Claudia!
It's my birthday on Friday and I am stupidly excited to take the day off to go shopping, drink cocktails and eat pick and mix.
Sneaks, hearing about your busy mornings makes me feel guilty! I was up quite early but spend too much time faffing around with getting ready!
Had a supervision meeting and dropped off some books at the library. The rest of the day's goals are:
1. Type up notes from supervision while it's fresh in my mind.
2. Lunch time meeting with the research group.
3. Make further progress on the section I started writing yesterday. Another 400 words would be good.
Well done Batfink!
I achieved all of my goals today. I made a start on the writing I have been putting off and will be ready to get on with it again tomorrow. I only managed 300 words but when I opened the document last week I had a complete block and couldn't manage anything, so it is progress!
I'm now going to mark 1 or 2 papers before finishing for the day and working out.
Morning all. Right, I need to make myself accountable and set out what I'm going to do before I get tired and lazy this afternoon.
Goal 1: Teach 2 tutorials
Goal 2: Put finishing touches to document for supervision tomorrow and email to supervisor
Goal 3: Make a decent start on a particular section of my chapter. This is going to be tough. The deadline is looming and I feel like all of my writing is crap.
Afternoon all. This morning was taken up with teaching. I can never face doing much on Monday afternoons but today I am hoping to make a dent in the pile of marking I have to do. I'm going to aim to get 6 papers done for now.
