I vaguely remember Khaawaar from last year, so only having 4 posts (to date) is a bit weird unless it's a new account and there is some slight variation on his/her username from the previous one. Mind you, DanB did exist for awhile as HangSeng and fooled a lot us (myself included). So DanB, we know you are reading this, email me if you're around!
I thought this had stopped, but it's back again. I was walking down the stairs earlier talking to myself about what work I'm going to be doing this afternoon, and then I realised what was happening.
This used to happen a lot when I lived on my own, but since sharing with others it seems to have stopped. Not anymore. I can only assume that I haven't been getting out much lately. Does anyone else talk to themselves, or is it just me showing the first signs of (PhD) madness?
I'm working up on campus today and our offices are opposite the accommodation office. As today is start of fresher's week it's been absolute chaos out there all day - huge traffic jams right across town, cars piled up to the roof with stuff - creaking right down on their suspensions, very young looking freshers and very protective-looking parents.
There's something vaguely amusing about watching this whole charade, especially in the knowledge that once mum and dad have hit the road for home, their little darlings will be straight down town to get leathered with their new flatmates.
Still, my memories of my freshers' week are very hazy, so it must have been a good week. I'm told old now and can't handle my beer, so I'll look on in amusement as the current band of freshers experience the freshers' week rite of passage.
How's it looking where you are?
Well, after another disappointing day (only half a day's work today), I'm shortly about to give up for he night.
I'm now a full day behind for this week. If I'm to make up this time, do i sacrifice one day over the weekend (not good for getting rest and may leave me jaded next week) or do I do 2 x 1.5 days? Hmmm. Just had a self heart-to-heart in my diary about why my procrastination habit is getting well-entrenched and what I can seriously do about it to establish a structured, effective work regime. I know what I must do, I just don't want to have to do it! :-s
