Hi Walminskipeasucker, am with you tonight. It was too hot today such that I literally spent the afternoon between my bed and desk, ended up sleeping through much of the afternoon, tried in vain to write... feeling refreshed though somewhat sticky and hot
Happy writing!
I think in order to deal with this you need to first identify what the actual problem is and try to be objective about it. If you are not sure about the comments you are getting ask someone independent to read it without necessarily telling them what the issue is and get their comments. It's either you need help with your written English (which you can get from your university) or you are simply struggling to clearly put your ideas across even though you may have the language with which to express yourself. in the latter case you will just have to worker harder at it, more like fine tuning a guitar till the codes sound right!
Hi Rick
Was reading Colour Bar -by Susan Williams which lays bare the nature of British imperialism in the 19th century through the Banishment of Seretse Khama from his homeland (then king of Botswana a small country in Southern Africa) - his crime, marrying a white British woman and producing chocolate looking babies which offended the then white nationalist government next door in South Africa ...afterwards the British government tried to impose, a new king... a commoner… what a conspiracy… Imagine trying to replace the British Queen with a Commoner from North London!!! So basically in my head I was thinking this whole thing to do with the imposition of Northern ideology upon the South just didn't start with IMF & World Bank..... Somewhat related to my thesis...advocating for home-grown solutions in rebuilding fragile state systems.
How is it going with your focus group discussions?
Thanks Bewildered, yes you are absolutely right ref- intellectual progression hence the massive tweaking to produce quality work, but there are some things that will prove difficult to tweak because they are ok as they are for instance definitions of key concepts against specific contexts; something as simple as defining vulnerable children in countries that am looking at...have to go by each country's definition...impossible to change quotes, honestly you can only change so much, but having said that you and Missspacey have a point, I need to check with the uni's regulations regarding this. Lara I can only hope my supervisor won't give me such a run on this because it can be so time consuming
