Dress for Interview (Male)

J

Hi

I been invited to a couple of interviews next week for an msc in medical statistics at Leicester and an Msc in Statistics at Lancaster. Just wondering what should I wear to these interviews. Is a shirt and tie to formal? It was either that or a pair of jeans, and a shirt with a jumper over the top Any help appreciated

Wear a suit, it says you are seriouse and made an effort!

Good luck!(up)

i would tend to agree, it's definitely better to be too formal rather than not formal enough! dressing in a suit generally makes a good first impression, whereas jeans would be too casual. good luck! :-)

cheers

Yup go for a suit.. You can't go wrong with that

I think turning up for an interview in jeans would be frowned upon by the majority of interviewers.

Good Luck :-)

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunatly my suit is at home and dont have time to get it posted but I do have a pair of suit trousers so will wear them with a shirt and tie i think

Cheers

good combo. the MSc at my uni - we rejected someone this week, not solely but partly cos they wore jeans to the interview - it demonstrates a lack of professionalism and comes across a bit 'lazy student who wants another year off' kind of way. So trousers are best!

Hello,

i know it sound quite cliched, but it is important, wear neat and tidy dress, you should be comfortable in your dress, match it with suitable accessories, you can wear custom tailored suits, quite suitable dress for the occasion like interview.

At the risk of stating the obvious: use deodorant and floss and brush your teeth.

Its amazing how many men can't even manage these basics.

Little or no jewellery - what about a nice watch? Never thought too much about that one!
