Full-Time PhD and Full-Time work

B

Hey peeps,

I'm a first year PhD student in Psychology, on top of that I have my own Business and still a regular on the social scene :-)
Although I do find it very stressful at times, but I somehow manage my studies, work and social life very well. It seems like I am the only one (including fellow students) that cant manage all this at once. So my question is, how many of you fellow PhD students can juggle all 3 at once?

Joanna 25 :-)

I absolutely cannot juggle things! I used to lecture part time, but I found doing it really ate into my time, and so I hardly ever had time for my PhD work. I did that for two years, but then thought that I'd rather not earn any money now but have a PhD, than earn some money now and not have a PhD. It didn't help that I was coming down with a chronic illness at the time (that I didn't realise).

Now that I've only got 7 months till deadline (eeeek!) I've pretty much dropped out of socialising, and handed all the house work to my OH (who is a god send!).

Although I have to add, I have several learning difficulties and a mental illness, so getting this thesis done probably takes a lot more effort from me than it would for others.

I'm envious that you can juggle so much, what's your secret? :D

The most important thing is that you are nearly finished! :-) So congrats on that.
I suffer from Bipolar Disorder, drink lots of alcohol, and take drugs. I'm also a Glamour Model and fly back and forth to LA, so it's really stressful. But there's nothing more stressful than having kids! hehe :-)

I'm guessing you're studying at LSBF too, BarbieJoJo?

English is my second language! I am sorry for any grammar errors :)

I am working full-time and enrolling in full-time DBA program. It's quite difficult!

However, I am trained since I was working full-time while obtaining my undergraduated and graduated degrees.

Time management is very essential. To be honest, I spend 8 hours working and 4 hours studying daily. I am very practical and focus on my goals so other tasks are not my priority at the moments. Thankfully, I am young so no family issues. My friends are very supportive and they actually quite busy as well. Therefore, I don't have to worry about social life--just hang out with family and close friends once in a while :)

I've heard people often discuss Walden and Belford in the same sentence.

How many people say they suffer from Bipolar disorder? Years ago it was really trendy to say one was manic depressive (similar thing-older name)

Please to those individuals on this forum genuinely diagnosed with this condition-I'm not referring to you. But honestly-just the normal swings and roundabouts of those of us who are a bit more emotionally inclined is not Bipolar. If you have met people with the genuine condition you can tell the difference.

Barbie Jo Jo-if you are not a troll all I can say is 'Good for you'. Now I had better get back to my work.
