I a m in need of advice

S

Is it possible to fail your PhD even if your work has been published in apeer revied journal?

T

Yes I should think so. For example, if the examiners didn't think it was really your work (i.e., you couldn't defend it).

C

Firstly, why do you think you are failing? Have your supervisors told you that or are you surmising?

Usually work published from your PhD is usually a small section of it which may well be of high standard. Unfortunately that doesn't mean that the PhD as a whole is passable. But most of them are defendable once they have reached the viva stage.

I would suggest that it is very rare to fail a viva if you have published work.
It can happen though.

In the viva you need to demonstrate that you have undertaken sufficient quality and quantity of work and yo must also demonstrate that this work is your own. Do both of those and I'd be very surprised if you failed.
