Morning all and welcome Noctu!

I achieved very little of Friday, so thought I would work Sunday to make up for it, except I got stuck into the Olympics and couldn't drag myself away! So now I have an awful lot of work to do and I don't really fancy doing it! I also have a completely disjointed week meaning a lot of this week will be non-PhD word, so that adds more pressure!

Goal 1- section 1 of LR

Eugh- I've been out for lunch with hubby so now I feel tired and sleepy (down) need to get some more work done though!

Morning everyone!

I made good progress yesterday on my lit review, but there's still plenty more to do. I need to read quite a few journal articles today and get them added into my lit review, so think that may take up most of the day.

Finishing early and paying back grant?

Thanks KB, you did come to mind when I thought of this. I imagine if I finished shortly after my final installment then they wouldn't ask for it back, but if I finished before the final installment then I wouldn't get it. Will chase it up though anyway!

Well done both of you; keep going! I am powering through my lit review (as well as my bag of minstrels) except the nasty section of this chapter needs tackling next!

Ha, Batfink you motivate yourself by food too! I am always thinking 'hmm I'll re-write this section and then have lunch' or 'I'll just transcribe this interview and then have a brew and biscuits'!

I always find chocolate and lucozade are good when one is feeling faint :p and at any other time too *says whilst scoffing big bag of minstrels before 9:30am*

Finishing early and paying back grant?

Sorry, I wasn't very clear was I! I get paid quarterly, so I'm just wondering if (for exanple) I got paid in January and finished in February, would I have to pay March back? I imagine I would but it isn't clear!

Finishing early and paying back grant?

Long story but I'm funded by the ESRC I may finish my PhD ahead of schedule. If I finished 3 or 6 months early, would I be expected to pay that portion of my grant back? I can't find any info in the funding guide.

Thankyou!

Well belated congratulations Batfink! And I also know what you mean about avoiding this thread when you haven't been getting along as well as you'd hope; I've done it many a time!

I'm still working on this dreaded lit review and it's so slow. It needs an awful amount of work and I can't see how I'll ever get through it!

Morning if anyone is around! I've got a bit of a busy day today so can only really do PhD work in the morning. May work one day at the weekend though as hubby is working.

Goal 1- lit review

Welcome back Linda! Ooh it didn't click with Batfink, congrats if you're newly engaged!

I've actually done goal 1 and I'm happy, but I now need to eat, make a phone call, and walk doggy. I also feel a bit meh and have a horrible cold, so not sure how much I'll achieve when I'm back at my desk!

Goal 2- start editing section 2 of lit review

Morning if anyone is around! I managed to get my journal article edited and sent off yesterday, yippee. So my task for the next few weeks is to sort my dreaded lit review, which needs a horrendous amount of work and I've been putting it off, eugh!

Goal 1- edit context section and hopefully move it to intro

Think that will probably take me all day!

Hi everyone, I'm back! Hope you have all been getting on okay. I had a great holiday but it's back to the grind now!

Goal 1- wade through a ridiculous amount of emails
Goal 2- edit journal article

Think that will keep me occupied all day; hoping to submit the article tomorrow but would love to get it done today.

ESRC Studentship and maternity pay!

Quote From lindalou83:

I'm afraid I don't know anything about ESRC studentships (and my studentship definitely doesn't "do" maternity pay) but I wanted to say HOW EXCITING! :-)

Hehe thanks Linda!

Just had confirmation from uni that it would indeed equate to 3 years and 6 months funding, so that's the practical issues out of the way!
