Is it worth to self fund a phd?
C

Hi, I am a Malaysian, i'm thinking of self fund my phd after attempt to get a funding failed after a year of applying. The total fees and living expenses for 3 years is extreme high as the huge difference in rating between Malaysia and UK which is about 260,000 Ringgit Malaysia. My plan is get a job in my neighbour country, Singapore, where the rating is slightly higher than Malaysia, which would take about 3 to 5 years to collect that amount of money. Is this effort worth to pay for a PhD? What is the chances for me to get a job in UK, so that i can earn back the money much easier. And what is the pay for a PhD holder with work experience if I go back to work in Singapore?

hi i am planning to self fund my phd in uk after attempt to apply for funding failed. The cost for the fee and living expenses will be 260000 Ringgit Malaysia for three years time. This will require me to work for 3 to 5 years in Singapore in order to collect this amount of money. Therefore, i would like some advices if this plan is worth or not. Besides, i do interested in doing research and teaching. And plan to find a job and settle down in uk after my phd. But i do know this is quite a risk, as i might not be able to get a job there after that. Therefore how much salary i will get if a phd holder work in singapore, and is it worth for me to put such big amount of money to invest for my phd.
