sometime ago samoene posted this link with usefull academic phrazes to ease your writting, here is the link http://www.phrasebank.manchester.ac.uk/introductions.htm
which is very helpful for lit reviews and presentig results, mainly quanti research
i was wondering if there are people here who have something similar for reporting qualitaitve research
thanks
D
i would agree, quiting is the easiest but not the best option. it all depends on how good relations you have with your supervisors. deferring the Phd for as long as is possible sounds a better solution if you really want to make it...try to get your supervisors opinion on that
i wish you all the best of luck to you
hey there,
really comprehensive model.
I haven't come across to a similar model in qual research, however the approach i use is similar to the previous model:
1. find a knowledge gap
2. theoretical research
3. design a conceptual framework and build topic guides for interviews
4.test the topic guide in a pilot
5.start the data collection -- an iterative and systematic process between data collection and analysis which will inform the conceptual framework-- further explore the conceptual framework
6. find links with theory in order to understand or explore further the subject you are researching
hope it helps
i know this feeling. try and relax...they are human beings as well. just be yourself and discuss about what you want to do, how and why. Just keep in mind that you dont have to be perfect or know everything.you just need to be enthusiastic and ready to learn more from your supervisors and your study.
enjoy meeting with academics...sometimes they are good fun.
good luck
