It's not that she says she hasn't understood it - it's that her comments are logically inconsistent with what is plainly on the paper in front of her. It's not just me that thinks so either. I sent the essay + comments to someone and didn't mention my view and their response was "has she even read this?"
... I work in a demanding job, which takes up a lot of my week. I am often sent places at short notice and my priorities change by the hour. The skills are obviously useful for manageing a PhD, but I resent speng the time I do have to do the PhD doing these stupid things. I'm hoping by blogging I can get a better sense of achievement which will keep me focused and motivated.
I did it, but set one up on a blogging website thingy. I think it will help me to see if I'm actually getting anywhere.
At the moment I'm really struggling because I'm spending so much time doing pointless essays to jump through hoops. I'm only in the first year of a part time PhD (well, MPhil til I'm upgraded) but I intend to write up as I go along. So far I've not had time because of work and these stupid hoops!! ...
There is a list of modules to choose from, some subject specific some not. There is even credits for making a poster. You have to do at least 60 credits - leading to a PgCert in Research Training but you can do 120 if you wish and get a PgDip.
Now, I may be being stupid - but surely obtaining a doctorate shows you can research?
I'd love to sack them off - but they have to be done before you are allowed to submit. Frankly, I have better things to do with my time!!
Have you tried looking at the university accomadation website?
They certainly let rooms on a B&B basis during vacation. Not sure about the rest of the year.
Have you thought about youth hostels/YMCAs? Also, if you look online and book far enough in advance you can sometimes get really cheap deals for hotels.
