5 minute study on religiosity, spirituality and the Moral Domain.

G

Hey guys, I am a final year Psychology student interested in the area of how religious people differ in the moral reasoning compared to the irreligious under five main subheadings; fairness, equality, loyalty, sanctity, and authority. If anyone has 5 minutes to complete my thesis link at the bottom it would be greatly appreciated! Or if they would like to contribute conjecture or musings or simply want to say hello, don't hesitate....

good survey!

G

Thank you very much Eds!

I've completed your survey as far as I can and I'm not trying to be wilfully awkward, honest, but I couldn't answer the set of questions asking about relevance because you didn't say in what context relevance was being judged.

G

Hi Clupea, that's fine I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey. It means a lot. Apologies for the confusion anyway, I will further review the survey. It is good to bring this to my attention. The purpose of the moral relevance section was intended to be independent of context and to apply universally with the second section context dependent. It is designed to cover a wide conceptual area for each foundation while avoiding obvious culture-war issues (e.g., one item is about the moral relevance of rights violations in the abstract, without specifying particular content such as gun rights or gay rights). In this way, the Relevance subscale may better assess explicit theories about what is morally relevant, and the Judgments subscale may better assess actual use of moral foundations in judgment.

C

Ah, I think I understand now - I was taking the heading to be just an indication of the subject area of the questions and hadn't made the direct link to relevance to the assessment of the morality of someone. Looking back at it, I think I was possibly just being dim, sorry.

G

That's no problem at all, again thanks for participating!

Done :) Good survey!

H

Done too. May I ask, how many questions were there in total?

I'm designing a questionnaire too and trying to work out how long it will take to fill in.

G

Thanks guys! Chococake, it was a 66 (15+21+15+15) item survey. It is all multiple choice so without any qualitative data questions it usually runs smoother. Also people are more encouraged to finish it thoroughly. It generally can run from anywhere between 5-10 depending on the person.

Thank you! That's very helpful :)
