I know I will be. My friend (whose Welsh) has challenged me to learn it in the 3+ years I'm in Wales. I have a book and tape and have signed up for an evening course when I get there.

cool, which department?

S

Different uni, I'll be at Aber. Very strong Welsh language community there so plenty of opportunity to practice.

S

Probably not, I can say hello, goodbye and count to 10 at the moment, that's all. I can't even order a beer yet.

Trying to say the word for 6 "chwech" is hard going for an Englishman as it requires alot of throat and lots of flem to get the pronunciation right.

M

for none welsh speakers, your first lesson, i will spell all phonetically

Sylvester, I just finished my undergrad at Aber. its not without its charm, just be prepared to feel a bit isolated and cut-off from the rest of civilisation!

I did my undergrad at Cardiff and had the bestest time! Tis an awesome city especially if you like going out/socialising. What kind of music/nights out are you in to, i could recommend some places!! I still visit Cardiff a lot as i have tons of friends there, so i'd like to think i know the sights and bars!!!!!
