Okay, I'm a little confused about funding your PhD studies. I am doing my Masters in Europe right now and I know that in my country every single PhD student receives a stipend (from the government) and they do not have to pay tuition, so their funding is the stipend they get every month and they can live off of that. So I have been reading forums and people say that in Netherland or in Sweden PhD students are treated also as staff members and are paid, but if you look at uni's webpages, it is written there that PhD student dont get any stipend and they have to prove how they gonna fund their studies. I know every uni has their fully funded programs, but not in every field and they are very competitive). My question is, in which countries or unis evey PhD student receives a stipend? For example Central European University gives out stipend to every accepted PhD student.
