You will manage, it all depends on your financial situation, I mean whether or not your Phd is being sponsored, you need to manage your expenses carefully, believe me. I would say you would need a minimum of £ 1000 monthly for rent and other expenses, although this figure may differ depending on the city. Other than that you will find plenty of time to see and interact with your children especially if you are doing a social based phd since you may work from home most of the time. I do have a child and we are managing well. Good luck
Hi andy, I don't think your quesyion is stupid or silly, manu of us here on this forum are still new to this whole process..like me for example and it would really be valuable and benificial to hear from other experienced more advanced students in this process. Hi guys
this is my first time on this forum, although i'm a regular visitor. Does the PhD cause you sleeping disorders ??? I no longer enjoy anything even when I'm not doing work my mind is always engaged in the PhD, thinking of data, variables, statistics, methods, going back to literature.....ect. I suddenly find myself just going to write anything that crosses on my mind, or read something I remembered, check an article. My partner is annoyed. Simply she can't understand the pressure of PhD..PhD is a more a mental process than long hours of working in my opinion..it leaves you with bad social life...what do you thin or am i exaggarating ? is what I am passing through normal..I'm now in my second year.
Hi there folks, as a second year PhD student, where am I supposed to be standing right now after 15 months of starting, I have already submitted my first year report which contains drafts of my literature, background, the main theory and hypothesis, in addition, I have already finished collecting my data for empirical work...I am a bit confused and don't know whether what I hve achieved is considered good or not, by the way am doing my PhD in Business, wis you all wondeful Christmas vacations, if you are going for one.
