Hi all, update:
Still absolutely no luck, despite interest from many different organisations, none have offered any kind of funding.
To be honest, starting to get really disheartened.
Hi there, I work part time to fund my study. I work 3 days a week (mon, tue & fri) while uni falls on a Wed & Thurs.
Affording it is difficult (if you don't have savings, you will need to speak nicely to your bank). As you are aware, there is virtually no funsing available for most masters courses, however, take your time to look around, some courses are funded to a greater or lesser degree. Also, one other thing, depending on your course, field trips, exams, workshop weeks etc. will all take their toll on your work holiday allowance.
Hi there, a Masters really does help. For one thing it allows you greater time to build a list of contacts, and to find funding/develop your PhD proposals etc. I'm currently studying an MSc, before atempting a PhD, and I'm still looking for funding (due to start in October), and still no luck at all. So time is good.
UPDATE:
I've manage to secure one form of funding, if I can 'match fund' it from somewhere else. I think I'll try my bank....
Hi all.
I wonder if any of you can help? I've been accepted at Swansea university for September 2008 (after I complete my current MSc this year). I am trying my best procure funding or any grants possible. I'm trying NERC, and looking into European funding. Does anyone out there have any experience and could offer me some help?

Thanks both, real positive info. : really appreciate it!!
Hi, I finished my Bsc in Biology this year, and am about one third through a year long Msc while I try and get onto a Phd. I'm simply here to ask for some tips in applying for a Phd, my requirements are relatively simple: I would like to stay in the UK, I need to start next year (complicated) and this Msc has sucked up all my remaining funds after the degree (no funding), so I really need a stipended or paid, and funded Phd with minimum expenditure etc. I know this is a very general question at best, but if anyone could help me (my Uni isnt so good in this department as they have no funding for Phds and so little interest), I would be very much in your debt.
