The star system simply indicates whether your a helpful or very helpful user. The more helpful you are, the more stars you receive. Many people post content that carries little value and the star system gives users a way of spotting helpful users from high volume users.
do the admin people automatically get 5 stars ;-)
I have removed my default 5 stars and now only show genuine stars. I apologise for your sleepless nights. LOL

There has been an alteration to the login process this morning which may explain the strange behavior you experienced.
You currently appear offline to me. Please try it again. I've tested the login process a few moments ago and it works fine on the same Firefox version as you. Thanks for the feedback.

Re the blue box business....
1. Write a post.
2. Attempt to edit something in the middle (move the cursur to the middle of a sentence).
3. Ah it did it here (again), while I was attempting to edit the word cursor. Would you like a screenshot?

Hi Golfpro, I've recreated the problem and have a possible solution. The problem is that Safari has a bug. I will work on the possible solution tomorrow but in the meantime you can simply scroll the screen up to access the text underneath the blue box or click 300px to the left or right from the box centre and scroll the cursor with the cursor keys to edit the text underneath. cheers golfpro, I'm aware, in fact I'm just editing some stuff on the fly which means you may experience a couple of errors, but just refresh and they should disappear. Pete

Another bug. When I'm writing a post and want to amend a word, on occasions it won't let me. Sometimes I can move the cursor back. Other times I get this big blue rectangle.
I have been unable to reproduce this error on Safari 3.1.2. Can you create step-by-step instructions to reproduce this error, thanks Pete

Im having a different problem, when i click into the PhD forum I no longer see a list of threads, I only see one on the page. ANyone else having this problem?

The edit function doesn't work. It reopens the post so you can edit it, but it doesn't update it so you never see the corrections. I use firefox 3

i don't always get the threads showing, sometimes they come up just one at a time, and sometimes I get the lot, no reason for the difference though
