can a good soul, in the name that all is good, help me with the gist of critical writing? i keep on getting feedback that am not critical enough: as in comparing and contrasting literature which I think am doing but acc to my tutors am not - please, will anyone enlighten me here so i can improve myself....thank you. i need to nail this.

All, have viva in two weeks. Tutors were not happy wih paper saying that i will probably confirm at a later time. However i have amended the paper based on their comments (my examiners have the paper now). Surely if i do well in viva i can still nail it? Any thoughts?

yes, and you will feel like that plenty of times - at least I DO! don't give up though..it is a very bumpy road...

I am trying to go over my work and being more critical - not easy...as with every sentence i write i have to support it with literature and stop being general...argghhh..more pain more gain, indeed...or so i hope!!!! :)))

Chocolate, same thing. Thanks so much for contributing. Very bruising indeed. Never thought it would be so different. Was always good at school but with their comments I feel dumb and incapable. Grrrrr :)))

I think that part of the problem is my low self-esteem hence I think that my colleagues are doing a better job at it than I am. Or so it looks like that...... Sigh.....

Is it normal for tutors to make you rewrite and rewrite and complain that you are not being critical enough? This is getting me down. Actually have been crying like a baby. And this is only my second year.... Am i just plain incapable or has someone ever experienced this? Anyyoneeee??? Am PhD****** off!!!
