Help!Failed Masters Dissertation

L

Wondering if someone can help me. Im not wanting to take a PHD as i can see many of you are doing but am more wanting to come out of my studies with an MSc. I have yesterday received my mark back for my dissertation in Computer Science and have failed. At present i would only be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma(PGDIP) with my 120 credits. I would like to know if any of you know a university or course where i could transfer the credits ive attained already to convert this current PGDIP to the full Masters degree in the same course or something similar(Computer Science, Software Development etc).

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Lastly. To my knowledge i will not be allowed another chance to retake the dissertation with my current university, so credit transfer is currently my only option to gain a full MSc

Not an expert, but could you use the credits to upgrade to an MSc via the Open University?

Thats the first thing ive thought of and have already contacted them and am waiting to see what they say, so was wondering if anyone else has been in a similar boat or knows how i can upgrade this to a full masters with any other university.

Leemark, some universities allow you to do retake (resubmit your dissertation) - have you asked at yours & is it defo out of the question? Did u have any personal circumstances that got in the way? Did u get enough support from your supervisor, etc.? Have you spoken to the postgraduate MSc director & explored your options (if there are any) at your current institution?

Someone who failed their dissertation for bad plagiarism in my MA year, got London Met to let her in to just redo her dissertation there. I thought that was very bad standards on their part at the time, but she failed again apparently. I now wonder whether it was a cynical money-making attempt on their part, so you might want to be very careful about any offers that look too good to be true. I think the OU only let you transfer a lower number of credits than you have towards a qualification there, so you would need to repeat more than the dissertation. I would expect the same to be true of most places.

From my BSc(Hons) which was 360 points worth of study the OU gave me 180 points of credit transfer that I could count towards my BA(Hons). But they might be more generous if counting towards a similar course.
