Transcribing interviews

I'm arranging my first research interviews and starting to think about how I'm going to transcribe my them. I've looked at Express Scribe which recommends using the Alto Edge Footpedal that's only readily available in the US, not in the UK. Does anyone have any recommendations for other options?

Hi LBaines. I had to transcribe all my own interviews for my MSc - it certainly is one way to immerse yourself in the literature! I recorded on a dictaphone, then uploaded at work, converted file into .wav and used a program called F5 (for Mac). I think they do F4 for windows. Best of all, it's FREE!
